Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are planning an extended move back to the United Kingdom from the United States, six years after stepping down from royal duties. Their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are enrolled in British schools for the term starting in September, and the family will live in a private residence outside London.
The King and entire Royal Family has been blindsided by Prince Harry and Meghan’s bombshell plans to move back to the UK - with Charles only told about them three days ago, royal sources have said. The Sussexes are returning to the UK later this month – making their home in a non-royal residence outside of London – and have already enrolled Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet in British schools. It is understood Harry and Meghan's plans would have been months in the making, however the King, who has had a rocky relationship with his younger son, was only made aware of the move on Sunday.
They are expected to remain financially independent and continue their commercial and charitable work, while Harry is not expected to undertake official royal duties. They are retaining their home in Montecito, California as well as their holiday home in Portugal.
The King, who is still living with cancer, was first made aware of the move on Sunday, only three days before it was made public, but is understood to welcome the opportunity to see more of the family both in a private and personal capacity.
