Suits’ Ratings DROP As Prince Harry & Meghan Markle’s Relationship Heats Up

Suits returned for the first time since Meghan Markle confirmed her controversial relationship with Prince Harry, but viewers didn’t tune in to watch the royal’s girlfriend on the small screen. Ratings for the USA show plummeted for the mid-season six premiere.
The episode, which aired on Wednesday, January 25, brought in 1,374,000 viewers compared to the 1,848,000 who tuned in for the season six premiere, TV by the Numbers reports.
Despite the crash in ratings, the show has been signed for season seven

The dip doesn’t come as a surprise, as Markle, 35, has come under fire in recent months for her shocking romance with the royal.
The backlash Markle received because of her race, past divorce and age forced Prince Harry, 32, to release a statement defending his girlfriend.
“The past week has seen a line crossed,” he wrote. “Meghan Markle has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment. Some of this has been very public — the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments.”
But Markle continues to be surrounded by scandal, as her brother, Thomas Markle Jr., 50, was arrested and charged with holding a gun to a woman’s head after a drunken argument at his home on January 12.
The crime is causing outrage among the royal family, as Radar exclusively revealed Prince Charles told his son to dump her!
“It was the last straw for Charles and Camilla,” an insider told Radar. “Harry’s been explicitly told to stay away from controversy as he moves from hard-partying playboy to hardworking royal.”
The source added, “But it seems he’s caught up in one scandal after another involving Meghan. Harry doesn’t care. He is totally in love with her and desperate to marry her

Meghan Markle in Camilla's firing line

According to a report in Woman’s Day, Camilla is doing whatever it takes to make sure Suits actress Meghan and her 32-year-old son-in-law never marry.

"She doesn’t do tantrums, but she has considerable influence,” a palace insider told the magazine.
“If she doesn’t get her way, she leans on Charles and Charles acts.”
The news comes after Meghan’s family has been plagued with controversy in recent weeks.
The actress, who has reportedly been dating Prince Harry for the past eight months, has been under scrutiny after their relationship was made public knowledge.
The star’s 50-year-old brother, Tom Jr, was recently arrested after allegedly brandishing a gun at his girlfriend, Darlene, during a booze-filled argument.
Tom Jr. was arrested and a police investigation into the incident has been launched.
However Markle’s brother has pleaded with his half-sister to forgive him and claimed he would love to be invited to Buckingham Palace if a royal wedding were to take place between the pair.
“If I may say so, Prince Harry has made a few in his time and learnt from them. I just need the same chance,” Tom told the Sun.
“Marriage and kids is on the cards for Meghan and Harry and I still want to go to the wedding if they’ll let me.
“Of course I want to go to London and Buckingham Palace.”
And Tom Jr. isn’t the only family member who’s had a run-in with the law as Markle’s father has reportedly has a long history of debt and filed for bankruptcy last year.
However Meghan’s mother, Doria is reportedly in the good books with the royal family for remaining silent on her daughter’s new relationship.
Camilla hasn’t been afraid to let her feelings be known about her sons-in-law’s romances in the past and she was reportedly behind the reason why Prince William and Kate Middleton split way back in 2007.
At the time it was thought it was due to William’s unwillingness to commit to a relationship, however now it’s been claimed that Charles’ second wife, Camilla, may have orchestrated the whole thing.

According to author Christopher Anderson, who wrote the book William and Kate: A Royal Love Story, Camilla was furious that Kate was “sucking up all the attention” at a time when she was trying to win over the public.

Rumor Bust! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Are Not Engaged

Love is in the air for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, but that doesn’t mean they are headed down the aisle.
A report surfaced this week that had the pair was getting hitched, including the assertion, “The spare heir has already popped the question to girlfriend Meghan Markle, and she said yes.” It went on to say, “They’ve been holding in the news like a couple of giddy school kids; they’re dying to finally be able to share it with the rest of the world.”
Gossip Cop can confirm that the rumors are false, reporting, “An impeccable royal insider, who 100 percent assures us the palace did not confirm the story and, more significantly, Prince Harry is not engaged ‘secretly' or otherwise."

Meghan Markle's co-star hints at Prince Harry engagement

Are those wedding bells we hear? Meghan Markle’s Suits co-star, Patrick J Adams, has fuelled speculation of an upcoming royal proposal!

The Canadian actor, 35, who plays Meghan’s on-screen lover and now fiancĂ© on the NBC series, took to Reddit on Wednesday night to participate in a revealing ‘Ask Me Anything’ Q&A session with fans.
Despite the fact that the cult paralegal drama just premiered its first episode since the mid-season finale, fans were (understandably!) more interested in his 35-year-old co-star’s relationship with Prince Harry.

Meghan Markle has returned to 'Suits' for the first time since her relationship with Prince Harry became public.
The 35-year-old actress - who has been dating the British royal since mid-2016 - stars as paralegal Rachel in the popular series and has made her return to TV screens, after the last episode aired in September 2016.

Meghan has become one of the most famous women in the world since she last appeared on the show, as her relationship with the Prince only came to light in November.
Since then, things appeared to have become increasingly serious between the duo, with Harry having whisked her away for a romantic getaway to Norway over the New Year period.
What's more, Meghan's half-brother Thomas Markle Jr. recently claimed marriage is "on the cards" for her and the British royal.
The 50-year-old half-brother of the 'Suits' actress was arrested earlier this month after he allegedly held a gun to his lover's head following a drunken argument.
But Thomas said he "still wants to go" to Meghan's royal wedding should the couple decide to tie the knot.
He said: "Marriage and kids is on the cards for Meghan and Harry and I still want to go to the wedding if they'll let me.
"Of course I want to go to London and Buckingham Palace.
"Their relationship has been going from strength to strength and this drama is the last thing I wanted to happen. I want to tell Meghan I am truly sorry from the bottom of my heart."
Prior to that, Thomas apologised to loved ones after his actions, and revealed he was "seeking help" to curb his drinking problem.
He said: "I am incredibly sorry for my actions and I'm especially sorry to everyone affected by my drinking.
"I am seeking help and I promise I will be the best person I can be going forward. Thank you for understanding."

Meghan Markle Is Already Receiving Royal Coverage from the Press

Although she’s not officially a royal yet (she’s just dating Prince Harry), actress Meghan Markle is already receiving the royal treatment from the press. Before her relationship with Harry, reporting on Markle was on par with that for other actresses. She gave interviews about her show, Suits, and though she did a lot of humanitarian work and ran a lifestyle site called The Tig, neither of those endeavors were widely reported. After she started dating Harry, however, all that changed, and media coverage of Markle took on almost reverent tones. Suddenly, former costars were talking about her as if she were different from us including to Vanity Fair), merely because of her association with a prince. After her latest endeavor—a trip to India with the World Vision organization—sources spoke to reporters about her work in the flattering way usually reserved for Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, when she acts philanthropic.
In January, Markle visited New Delhi and Mumbai on behalf of her role as a global ambassador for the charity organization World Vision. Per E! News, Markle traveled to India for a week to work with World Vision’s Daughters of India initiative, whose mission is to provide better access to hygiene—specifically toilets—to girls in schools. She also met with other activists working for progress for women in India.
“It was an incredibly productive and meaningful experience for her,“ a source told E!, speaking in a dutiful tone. “She's been working on issues around women and girls since she was 11, when she wrote letters to Hillary Clinton about the sexist soap commercials. She's now in the planning stages of an initiative based on what she learned from her trip. She's very excited to share.”
Us Weekly had a similarly glowing report from a source. “Meghan had been planning this [for the past eight months], compiling her own research and helping set the agenda for the trip. She didn't want to be given notes by someone else and just show up. These are important areas of interest for Meghan, and [they] cover issues she feels extremely passionate about.”
The actress made a similar trip to Rwanda in early 2016, so this is definitely a cause to which she’s been committed to for a while. What’s unusual now is how reporters are covering Markle’s every move, including those that don’t involve Harry, and she’s being described in the manner usually reserved for royals who—just like stars, supposedly—are not like us.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle finally pictured hand-in-hand

After months of media speculation and thwarted paparazzi pursuit, the very first photos have surfaced of Prince Harry together in public with his American girlfriend, stunning TV star Meghan Markle.

The lovebirds were out on a date in London Thursday, striding along a West End street in coats and knit hats, en route to a performance of a transplanted Broadway hit, “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime.”
In one photo snapped on Piccadilly, they walk hand-in-hand down the famed avenue.
Harry, 32, has raised his left hand and appears to be smiling and pointing, perhaps at Christmas displays.
Markle, 35, star of the TV series “Suits,” keeps her chin ducked down.
Only a single “royal protection officer” trailed them, according to The Sun, which broke the world photo exclusive. They’ve been an item for five months.
“As an actress, Meghan loves the theater so this was an obvious date to go on,” one pal told The Sun.
Two months ago, when Meghan last visited London, they sneaked in and out of “The Lion King,” the tabloid said.

Prince Harry's girlfriend Meghan Markle still 'haunted' by family's experience with racism

Meghan Markle has recounted a shocking story about her family's experience with racism. The actress shared the painful anecdote with her readers on her lifestyle website The Tig, in honour of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Meghan, who has a Caucasian father and an African American mother, recounted a story her grandfather Alvin told her when she was 11. Her grandparents had packed up the car and were going on a road trip from Ohio to California with their three children including their daughter, Meghan's mum.

"At the time, road trips to me were a collection of Are we there yet?s, the license plate game, the drive-throughs for filler food (where McDonalds was less of a treat and more of the norm), photo ops by signs welcoming you from one state to the next, and stops at local restaurants to stretch your legs," wrote Meghan.
She continued: "'Things were different then,' my grandfather said. 'Meggie, on our road trip, when we went to Kentucky Fried Chicken, we had to go to the back for 'coloreds.' The kitchen staff handed me the chicken from the back door and we ate in the parking lot. That's just what it was."
She shared a story about her family's experience with racism that "still haunts" her
Meghan, who has been dating Prince Harry for six months, admitted that the story "still haunts" her.
"It reminds me of how young our country is. How far we've come and how far we still have to come," wrote Meghan. "It makes me think of the countless black jokes people have shared in front of me, not realising I am mixed, unaware that I am the ethnically ambiguous fly on the wall. It makes me wonder what my parents experienced as a mixed race couple.
"It echoes the time my mum and I were leaving a concert at The Hollywood Bowl, and a woman called her the 'N' word because she was taking too long to pull out of the parking spot. I remember how hot my skin felt. How it scorched the air around me."
Meghan, 35, recently wrote a powerful post about the difficulties of growing up biracial. She recalled another tough time in seventh grade when she was asked to tick a box to indicate her ethnicity. She had a choice of white, black, Hispanic or Asian.
"You could only choose one, but that would be to choose one parent over the other – and one half of myself over the other," wrote Meghan. "My teacher told me to check the box for Caucasian. 'Because that's how you look, Meghan,' she said. I put down my pen. Not as an act of defiance, but rather a symptom of my confusion. I couldn't bring myself to do that, to picture the pit-in-her-belly sadness my mother would feel if she were to find out. So, I didn't tick a box. I left my identity blank – a question mark, an absolute incomplete – much like how I felt."
Meghan concluded by saying that she embraced her mixed heritage and is proud to be "a strong, confident mixed-race woman"

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle: A timeline of their romance

Prince Harry's girlfriend Meghan Markle has been introduced to Kate – and Princess Charlotte!

Prince Harry has introduced his girlfriend Meghan Markle to his sister-in-law the Duchess of Cambridge, according to a new report. The Suits actress, who has been dating Harry since last summer, even met Kate's daughter, Princess Charlotte.
The introductions were made last week when Toronto-based Meghan, 35, was visiting Harry, 32, in London.
"Kate was really looking forward to meeting Meghan and she knew how important it was to Harry," a source told The Sun on Sunday. "They are very close and he really values her opinion on girlfriends.
Meghan was "very excited" about meeting Prince Harry's sister-in-law Kate
The source added: "Obviously Harry's mother, Princess Diana, died when he was very young so Kate really fulfils that older sister/maternal role. It went really well and Meghan was very excited about meeting her."
Harry and Meghan reportedly visited Prince William and Kate's home, Apartment 1A in Kensington Palace, a stone's throw away from Harry's Nottingham Cottage. The actress gave the Duchess a thoughtful, belated birthday present and even got to meet Princess Charlotte. Prince George was at the family's country home, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk as he goes to nursery there.
"She got to play with Charlotte who she just adored," the source continued. "Meg had bought Kate a small birthday present – a very smart leather-bound 'dream diary' for her thoughts and ideas which Kate loved.
"This just shows how serious Harry is. He wants to take their relationship to the next level."
